Which witch is which?

Homophones are words that sound the same, but have different spellings and meanings, e.g.flower and flour. You need to learn these words as there are no spelling rules to help you remember them. It's just a memory thing!

Which cake is mine?

The wicked witch strode along angrily!

Stay safe on the internet!

In our first ICT lesson of the year, 5K revised our knowledge of E-safety, i.e. how to stay safe on the internet and any other form of technology like e-mail and mobile phone technology. We visited the Cyber-cafe where we completed a number of tasks and encountered a number of different scenarios which required us to think about how to respond to communications we received. At the end of the lesson, we talked with our partners and shared with the class, the lessons we had learnt about how to stay safe in the ICT age!

Here are our responses:
E-safety

1. If you don’t know someone on a website or you get a text from someone strange, tell your Mum and don’t reply (Erika)
2. If someone said ‘send a photo of yourself and you’ll get lots of money’ you shouldn’t send a photo because they may be lying. (Yemi)
3. When you get a chain message, you shouldn’t send it on. Delete it and don’t worry! (Daniel)
4. If a stranger comes onto your computer, ask an adult what to do about it or delete it. (Scott)
5. If you receive a text and don’t know what it is- delete it! (Chloe)
6. If someone asks to meet face-to-face and you don’t know who it is. Either, delete it or tell an adult. (Jeevan)
7. If someone tells you to give them your address, you can tell an adult, or delete it. (Nicole)
8. Just because someone says they are friend from school online, doesn’t mean that they are. (Toba)
9. Don’t tell people what school you go to or your address (Arighni)
10. If someone says they want money or your personal details, don’t accept it. (Scott)
11. Don’t accept e-mails if you don’t know who it is. They COULD be sending you viruses. (Shayna)
12. Say you got a text message from someone in school and they are bullying you, don’t reply back or they’ll reply again or something horrible. Show and tell an adult in your house and/or tell your teacher. (Yemi)

STAY SAFE!

Our first week in year 5!!!

The first week in year 5 is over! Phew, we're extraordinarily tired! Here are just a few comments some of us have written about our first week! Enjoy!

I have had a great this week. We have done play scripts, the solar system, painted planets that are orbiting the sun, French and maths.

I am looking forward to science and maths because I have found out that I am starting to like year five. I also like the sums in maths, it will be pushing me further and further if I keep on trying. I am looking forward to doing science because it is my favourite subject.

On the first day it was very fun we did so many things like maths English science and music. I enjoyed music but I did not enjoy English because we did a test. It felt very weird in assembly because we were sitting in different positions.
